Healing wounds through Christian Science nursing

From the February 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One day my wife and I were called by our daughter's school and told that she had caught her finger in a door as it was closing. When we came to pick her up, we assured all those who were lovingly concerned that she would be given good care. We telephoned a Christian Science practitioner to help our daughter by praying for her. We then had the help of a Christian Science nurse listed in The Christian Science Journal, who gently washed and bandaged the area where the nail had been torn away.

This loving nurse continued to visit for a few days, providing fresh bandages. The practical care in covering the wound in a skilled manner assured everyone that the best of care was being given our daughter. In a short time a new nail was growing normally.

A Journal-listed Christian Science nurse may be self-employed or may be supported in the nursing ministry by a Christian Science visiting nurse service or Christian Science nursing facility. Many nurses are available anytime to visit the home of one who is relying on Christian Science for healing. Christian Science nurses bandage or dress wounds, help with personal care, assist people who have difficulty walking, and in general help the individual by providing an atmosphere uplifted by spiritual thought. They don't pray for the individual—that's the role of the practitioner.
