Foundation stone laid

From the April 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One hundred years ago this year, a small band of Christian Scientists, under the leadership of Mary Baker Eddy, undertook the construction of the Original Edifice of The Mother Church. From time to time this year, we'll recall the spiritual import behind significant events that took place during the construction.

In April of 1894—just one hundred years ago this month—the first foundation stone of the Original Edifice of The Mother Church was laid. This has prompted us to reflect on the spiritual foundation on which Mrs. Eddy's Church was built and continues to be built in the hearts and lives of Christian Scientists.

The true foundation of Church is built on the healing Christ, Truth. As we live the spirit of Christ day by day, we are building a more solid spiritual foundation for ourselves and our Church.
