I was born a very sickly child...

From the April 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I was born a very sickly child, and it was hard for my mother to find food I could keep on my stomach. Before I was ten years old I had had the measles twice, whooping cough, chickenpox, and yellow jaundice. My parents were concerned for my life.

When I was about ten, my mother came to me one day and asked if I would like to go to a Christian Science Sunday School. I was enrolled and began to attend regularly. The reason, I found out, was that doctors had told my father he had tuberculosis and an enlarged liver, and would only live six months. Someone had told him of Christian Science, and he and my mother started studying and going to church. He was healed, and lived a long and full life.

I continued in Sunday School and had very few illnesses thereafter, which marked quite a change.
