I was introduced to Christian Science...

From the June 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I was introduced to Christian Science in 1952, and when I began to study it my life opened to a new chapter. I was a young mother with a husband and three children, not much money, and a desperate need to know God.

Up to this time I would pray daily to a God that I felt sure existed, but I didn't know where or how to make contact. When we moved house I found what I wanted to know about God from the next-door neighbour, who was a Christian Scientist. I had never heard of Christian Science, but she soon told me all I needed to know, and my very first healing was of the desire for cigarettes. This was followed by a wonderful new sense of freedom from fear and superstition, which had governed me for so long. I was grateful.

Although my husband and I had found love at an early age, for me love now had a capital L and a different dimension because I had learned that God is Love.
