Beginning August 1, 1994, the advertising rate structure for the Journal Card Directory will be simplified and standardized to be based more closely on the average amount of space used. With this change, some advertisers will pay higher rates, some will pay lower.
For years, different types of listings were charged at different rates, even if the amount of space used was similar. The new structure treats all advertisers equally, and it more clearly establishes the directory as a marketplace for professionals to advertise and for churches to publicly announce their locations and services.
As was noted in the February "To our readers...", we are continuing to explore new formats for the directory to make it more user-friendly. We are also reviewing advertising policies in order to make them clearer as well as to give advertisers more flexibility in the wording and style of their ad. As always, our first priority is to create a format that will serve the needs of the user and policies that maintain the integrity of information in this vital directory.
