Letters

From the November 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The primary purpose of this letter is to express appreciation for your column "Working with the WORD" in The Christian Science Journal.

Ever since Thomas Leishman wrote the column under the titles "Bible Notes," and "Words of Current Interest," in the Christian Science Sentinel The Christian Science Sentinel is a weekly magazine. I was very interested, but it wasn't until 1962 that I bought a new copy of the King James Version of the Bible and a fine-point red pen, and decided to do something about it. For the next thirty-three years I've looked at each of the items in the column, reduced it to one or two words that to me clarified the meaning of the verse, and written those words in the margins in red ink. Parts of that Bible are now almost as red as they are black, and I consider it one of my most treasured possessions. ,

I feel I must write and thank you for the wonderful encouragement expressed in your recent letter. It certainly makes me feel as though all contributors to the periodicals are working as part of a team and that all contributions are important in creating a complete whole.
