One day I was busy washing dishes at the sink. Suddenly I was overcome by a feeling that everything around me was disappearing. It was a good thing that I was right next to a table and chair, so I could hold on and let myself fall into the chair.
I told myself, "I am not afraid, for I am spiritual, and therefore unassailable." When I tried to call a practitioner, I couldn't move; the right side of my body was completely stiff. Spontaneously the angel thought came to me—God is omnipotent, omnipresent; "nothing apart from Him is present or has power" (see Science and Health, p. 473). Shortly after that it was as if the affected area was flooded with warmth. Everything seemed brighter, and wonderful thoughts came flowing into my consciousness—for example, this one from Isaiah 41:10: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Next I was able to call the practitioner and say, "I have something wonderful to tell you: I believe I have been healed of a stroke." She could only give thanks to God for what I told her my prayer had accomplished. Then we had a short, uplifting conversation. The practitioner said we should keep all this to ourselves for a while yet, in order to keep the truth clear in thought that I was spiritual, perfect, and had always been so. I tried to walk, and was able to do it well. I cannot describe how my grateful heart soared God-ward. This was in March of 1993.
