A text on the wall of our church quotes our Lord: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). Some years ago I went away from Christian Science—my notes, my books, my church, everything. And I was doing very well. (After all, who needed Christian Science?) Then one morning as I left my bed, what seemed like an electric shock went through my head and face. This left me gasping.
Since I could not make a single facial movement without such attacks, I could not brush my teeth, wash my face, or move my eyes. All at once I felt utter terror. From then on, my life became torment, and I would spend all my days in a chair, not daring to move. Soup was all I could eat.
One day after I had left the surgery (the doctor's office), I found myself chanting, "Help me, Father." Suddenly it seemed as though two words appeared before me, and these words were Christian Science. When my husband arrived home, I told him I was going to rely on Christian Science again for healing. He agreed to support me. Together we disposed of all the drugs I had been taking. This condition had been medically diagnosed as trigeminal neuralgia, quite rare, considered incurable, only sometimes helped with drugs.
