I am always so grateful to receive each week the Christian Science Sentinel, and each month the Journal, which include reports of healing. To know that spiritual healing is occurring all around the world is very reassuring to me, as I rely on Christian healing in my own life.
Having attended Sunday School, I had seen many such healings take place in our family; a brother was healed of a crippling disease. I knew I wanted to have Christian Science practiced in my own family.
When we were expecting our first child, everything went along smoothly until the time of the birth. The doctor delivering the child told us the baby was facing the wrong way, and that the birth would require instruments and become rather unpleasant. My husband immediately called a Christian Science practitioner, who prayed right away for us all. He reminded us of a passage from Isaiah that we had considered in our prayers prior to the birth: "Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child" (66:7). I used this verse as the basis of my prayer, and felt assured that God's power would right this delivery, and that peace and harmony would prevail. Within a few minutes our daughter was born quickly and normally, the doctor noting the smooth process of events. To us this was a wonderful proof of the efficient healing power of God.
