Don't waver! Stand fast in Truth!

From the March 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What does it mean to waver? Some definitions are "to show doubt or indecision ... to be unsettled ... to vacillate."

In our day-to-day lives, most of us would honestly have to admit we've wavered many a time for one reason or another. The Bible, not too surprisingly, often warns against wavering in our faith in or obedience to God. In Hebrews, for example, we read, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering." Heb. 10:23.

To all Christians, this passage has special meaning because "the profession of [the Christian's] faith" is truly following Christ Jesus' example. And the Christian Science Church, being a Christian denomination, was established in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy "to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing." Mary Baker Eddy, Manual of The Mother Church, p. 17.
