Christ Jesus' healing work was astonishing to those who witnessed it. No surgical procedure, medication, therapy, or recuperation period was needed. The disease or crippling condition just ceased to be.
The power of Christ, Truth, which Jesus demonstrated, is with us today and always to bring healing in the same quick and certain way. Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." Also: "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you." John 14:12,26, 27
What exactly is it that the Comforter, divine Science, brings humanity to preserve life and establish peace? Isn't it the truth of spiritual being, which is beyond the reach of material conditions? In Science and Health Mary Baker Eddy says: "In Colossians (iii. 4) Paul writes: 'When Christ, who is our life, shall appear [be manifested], then shall ye also appear [be manifested] with him in glory.' When spiritual being is understood in all its perfection, continuity, and might, then shall man be found in God's image. The absolute meaning of the apostolic words is this: Then shall man be found, in His likeness, perfect as the Father, indestructible in Life, 'hid with Christ in God,'—with Truth in divine Love, where human sense hath not seen man."
