Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy is reaching the hands and hearts of more and more first-time readers. Those who've loved the book's message over years of study are breaking new ground in making Science and Health more widely available to a searching public, and they're finding new ways to work with others toward this goal.
Coincidental with the release of a new Paperback Edition of Science and Health in 1994, over two hundred communities were introduced to Science and Health through Christian Science lectures. Some lectures focused specifically on the book's message as it applies to topics such as health care, family, youth, justice, women's issues, religion, and ending violence; others focused on Mrs. Eddy herself, as author of Science and Health. Reading Rooms invited their neighbors to explore the book through special window displays, open houses, and related events. Public libraries were given fresh copies of Science and Health. Hundreds of individual readers of the book introduced it to local bookstores, and untold numbers of individuals shared copies of Science and Health with neighbors, clergy, legislators, and other local public officials.
Science and Health is finding new readers as a result of this devotion of thought and coordinated effort. Over two thousand bookstores are stocking Science and Health. People are walking into Reading Rooms asking for it. Newcomers at lectures are asking searching questions. New readers are commenting on the effect of this book in their lives. A university student who's just begun reading Science and Health said, "There's something more than just religion here ... I felt when I was reading it that this was something more powerful than anything I'd ever read."
