When a physical problem appears, we can tend to feel sorry for ourselves. Sympathy is one of the human frailties that need challenging in order for one to express the grandeur of spiritual being. Referring to God, Mary Baker Eddy once wrote, "His sympathy is divine, not human" (Mary Baker Eddy, No and Yes, p.30).
I was in the lower level of my house one day, when one side of my body became numb. My husband asked me to say the Lord's Prayer with him. Then he helped me upstairs to bed. The following morning I remained in bed, as I could not walk.
I have always relied on God for healing, so I began to pray to feel God's presence—to see the action of divine Mind, the control of Spirit, the bliss and calm of Soul, the curative support of Principle, the freedom and vitality of Life, the revitalization and nourishment of Truth, and the caring of divine Love for man.
