God has messages for you. Will you listen?

From the January 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Messages! The answering machine, the voice mail, the ringing telephone. They may bring an opportunity or still another responsibility. But what about divine messages—can we actually receive them? Can we depend on them to aid and inspire us in a crisis or during the challenges of each busy day?

The answer to these questions is yes! The one true source of all inspiration, guidance, and strength is God, divine Mind, the only Mind there is. He is constantly communicating to His spiritual idea, man. It's the nature of man to hear and comprehend Mind, and Mind's communications are clear and understandable, without interruption or interference of any kind.

How can we realize this fact in practical ways in an age of almost constant communications of a very different sort? How can we hear and understand divine messages? Spiritual receptivity is needed. The willingness to cultivate and sustain inspired listening will bring out in us qualities such as humility, patience, and peace, which enable us to hear and obey God's voice.
