Integrity's quiet question

From the January 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

If it feels difficult to pray
(awareness of God seems far away)
and rehearsals of "truth-words"
don't convey
much of anything,
try integrity's quiet question:
"What do I really desire?"

Then, hush!
Brush off whining "...but I can't hear His voice."
Build a silent haven for your choice
to glorify good.
Relying on Love's tender might,
hold to Truth's clear light.

Adore good alone!
And as you find your one desire is
to do Love's will,
stay still.

Now allow in your day the space to obey.
