Christian healers

From the October 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Healing is needed in the world. In every home, neighborhood, school, business. In every facet of life. Right where you and I are, healing is needed.

People are yearning for healing that reaches deep into their hearts and restores their sense of worth and dignity while it heals their physical, mental, and moral wounds. This calls for Christian healing—healing through Christ, the manifestation of divine Truth and Love. And for Christian healers.

Anyone can be a Christian healer. It doesn't take a special talent that others don't have—but it does take purity of thought and a humble willingness to rely on God. Christ Jesus, the Son of God, leaned entirely on God in his healing ministry. So did his follower Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered the Science of Christian healing and proved its efficacy in her own healing practice. She once wrote: "That individual is the best healer who asserts himself the least, and thus becomes a transparency for the divine Mind, who is the only physician; the divine Mind is the scientific healer." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 59.
