One summer day about two years ago I was out with my friend. We were riding our bikes down a hill that led us to my house. I was being a daredevil and carrying a big bag with one hand, so that I only had one hand for steering the bike. What was worse is that I was wearing no bike helmet, which I usually wear. I wasn't worried about crashing at first, because I rode my bike a lot, sometimes even with no hands.
But when I was almost to the house, I realized that my brakes didn't work fully. Immediately, what I had been learning about spiritual laws in divine Science came to mind. I declared myself to be God's child just before I crashed head-on into a big brick wall.
I did not give in to the pain, mortal fear, or worry over what I looked like with a huge bump on my head and big patches of skin that were peeled off my face and neck. Through all this pain, while I was still outside, though now off my bike and covering my face, I said loudly, "I am God's perfect child."
