Sight preceding seeing

From the October 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Jesus . . . commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man
.... And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus." Mark 10:49, 50

Flinging off all I have
would have more beggared me
moments ago,

yet now to be suddenly
singled out arrays me
in royal expectancy.

I'm clad in light
where night is unknown—
the light of hope.

The wonder of sight itself
must somehow already be . . .
dear God!—I see!
