The kingdom of God—within you

From the October 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The world is stirred looking for signs pertaining to the kingdom of God. As challenges and crises have erupted in almost all corners of the world, many people interpret them as signs of the end of the world—hence hastening the coming of the kingdom. But we don't have to live with guesswork, searching for this kingdom. Luke's Gospel frankly and simply states, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17: 20, 21 You can experience the kingdom right where you are, right here and right now and permanently so. It's not present today, and tomorrow gone; it's for eternity.

Truth has come now, and its voice is crying out everywhere. Let each and everybody be attuned to it. "The time for thinkers has come. Truth, independent of doctrines and time-honored systems, knocks at the portal of humanity. Contentment with the past and the cold conventionality of materialism are crumbling away," Science and Health, p. vii Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy proclaims.

Don't let the squeezes and pinches of the world cheat you or throw you off your spiritual track. Gain courage and strength by feeling Love, the divine Principle, forever protecting and defending all. We are all the sons and daughters of the King, proudly walking on the King's highway. Isn't that wonderful! There are no orphans on the King's highway. Christ's strength is always available to strengthen us and to make us feel at peace.
