An essential element of Christian healing

From the March 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

An essential element of Christian healing was vividly illustrated in the city of Dothan over three millenniums ago.See II Kings 6:8-17. One night an armored cavalry unit surrounded the city. It was sent by the king of Syria to capture the prophet Elisha. When Elisha's servant saw the situation in the morning, he was very fearful. "Alas, my master! how shall we do?" he cried out.

Elisha knew what to do. He prayed to God— not to remove the threatening cavalry unit or to send a mightier military force, but for the opening of his servant's eyes. "Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see."

See what? What was really there instead of what appeared to be there. Such perception is essential to genuine spiritual healing.
