From the March 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I became a devoted student of Christian Science after my marriage to a Christian Scientist, and my life has been greatly enriched and blessed as a result.

In one instance, our son leapt into the air to catch a fly ball during a baseball game and crashed headlong into a wooden fence. He crumpled to the ground, stunned, and we could see a large lump on his temple. A well-meaning crowd gathered, and a couple of the fathers (who were doctors) predicted concussion and urged us to rush him to the emergency room at the hospital.

We thanked all of them for their loving concern and drove the boy home. Here we asked him whether he wanted to go to the hospital or to rely completely on God as his Physician. He immediately said "God." Of course, my husband and I had been praying all along, knowing that this spiritual child, as God's reflection, could not experience an accident, which is unknown to God. We then called a Christian Science practitioner to treat us and our son, and almost immediately the boy was in no more pain or discomfort.
