In the course of my work, I was driving down a cut line in the bush when a sapling tree caught the side mirror of the truck and came through the open window, striking me on the side of the neck and forcing me to the opposite side of the cab. I was able to free myself and continued to work that day, but as I worked my neck became very stiff and a painful headache developed. A trip to a medical doctor failed to find anything amiss. At that time I was sent home, where numerous trips to a chiropractor eventually provided temporary relief. For the next thirteen years I was dependent to one degree or another on those treatments.
Although I had been brought up with the teachings of Christian Science, my understanding of Christian Science had never really been tested. It was following a chiropractor's appointment many years later that the truth finally came home. I saw then that all these years I had been prepared to believe a doctor, whether he said I was sick or well; but I had not been willing to believe God, who tells us that we are His perfect children and that He made us in His likeness. I realized that I had unconsciously believed a lie, and that as God's child I could only reflect His perfection. The claim that I could have back and neck problems that were caused by an accident was inconsistent with God's likeness, which is spiritual and under God's total care every minute.
I knew that matter can't dictate the
state of man's health. I was healed
immediately.
