You can deal with it, and be healed

From the July 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Picture this. You have prayed diligently, and finally you win. You are healed! Now you can relax, you think—rest on your laurels. But then something else comes up. As challenging and frustrating as that may be, you can deal with it. And you must, because every spiritual healing is important to your spiritual progress. Moreover, it has the potential to bless countless others.

Whether the healing is sparked by inspiration from a Christian Science practitioner's response, an idea in an article or testimony, or by that deep, spontaneous, heartfelt revelation of your oneness with God that comes in the quiet of prayer, the effect can extend well beyond you. Not only are you yourself blessed, but the spiritual healing power that wells up in you spills over to help others as well. Therefore you can rejoice in every demand made upon you to demonstrate the healing power of Christ.

Mary Baker Eddy plainly indicates our task in Science and Health where she writes: "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. These proofs consist solely in the destruction of sin, sickness, and death by the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil."  Science and Health, p. 233
