I wish to tell about my very first healing in Christian Science.
As a young girl I was very interested in reading about various religions, so I had bought a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Though I read through the whole book, I was just not impressed at that time and put the book away in a bookcase.
A couple of years after I was married, my husband was transferred to Gwalior. While there, I was accustomed to go out riding every morning with some of the cavalry officers stationed nearby. When my husband was transferred back to Bombay, I began to miss the exercise I had been used to and felt I was putting on weight. So I started going to a well-known health clinic. Some time later I started getting pains in my back. At first I did not tell anyone about it but simply stopped going to the health clinic. The pain increased, however, and I was compelled to tell my husband and my father about it. I consulted my gynecologist, who diagnosed "fibroids." A hospital room was booked and the operation date fixed. But my husband insisted I have a second opinion, and we went to a well-known consultant. He took an X-ray and said I was suffering from a slipped disk and advised an early operation, which would entail grafting a bone from my leg to my spine. Although I had not been overly worried about a stomach operation, I would not agree to a spinal one.
