I have been a student of Christian Science since I learned about it through reading the Christian Science Sentinel in eighth grade. After receiving permission from my mother to attend the Christian Science Sunday School and to get the book I had read about, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, I studied it along with the Bible. I was quickly healed of a severe headache when I prayerfully held to the thoughts in two Bible verses—one from John that says of God, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" (1:3), and the other from Genesis, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (1:31). These verses led me to reason that nothing that was not good could be real. I felt comforted, fell asleep, and woke shortly afterward free of the headache.
The study of Christian Science helped me greatly in my education, making schoolwork and taking tests much easier. In high school, before I did my homework, I would read a section of the Bible Lesson. Concentration became easier, and good grades followed.
At the end of the year, however, there was no money to continue at the private school I had been attending. I was very disappointed, because I liked the school and had made good friends. Then I learned I had been awarded the freshman class scholarship. I finished the four years of high school there, and never again had a lack in my school tuition.
