I wish to share a healing that has transformed my thinking to a degree I would never have expected. Several years ago I made a commitment to center my life on the study of Christian Science. This led me to take steps away from being so actively involved with the very intense management of our small orchard, although I thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors and was content with a job well done, even given the physical demands.
As I turned my efforts toward gaining a better understanding of the teachings of Christ Jesus through Bible study, using the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to The Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, along with as many Bible reference books as came to hand, it became my privilege to be a Reader for our branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
During this time, however, walking and standing became very painful. Performing my duties at the Wednesday evening services seemed especially challenging. But because of my duties as Reader, I had both the opportunity and the obligation to study regularly from our beloved textbooks. God's precious love for us as Abba, Father, became more entwined with my minute-by-minute activities and reasoning—with my practice of Christian Science.
