Feeling safe during turbulent flight

From the June 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While my wife and I were flying from California to London, our aircraft encountered significant turbulence. We belted ourselves firmly in our seats, but the situation was frightening. Passengers screamed. I called upon God, divine Mind, to save the situation. A passage from the book of Mark in the Bible came to me. It reads, "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible" (10:27).

We became certain
that God really
cares for us.

Another familiar passage, from Science and Health, says, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (p. 494). When I was still meditating on these references, I heard someone who was sitting next to me praying also. Many passengers were turning to God for safety. We became certain that God really cares for us, and we reached our destination safely.
