One Sunday I took my dog for a walk. It was great to watch her run at top speed and have so much freedom. When I called her back, she ran at top speed toward me, and it looked as if she wasn't going to stop. My dog is very large and muscular, and the thought of her possibly knocking me down crossed my mind. I quickly reasoned that if I just turned, she would run past me. As I turned, I glanced back, and right then she hit me with full force. I felt great pain in my left foot as I hit the ground.
I managed to get up on my knees and grab hold of the dog to reconnect the lead chain. I reassured her that she had not hurt me, that everything was all right, and that God was with us. As I told her to help me up, she stood very still while I used her body for leverage. I refuted the notion that any of God's ideas—including the dog and me—could in any way harm each other. God creates spiritual ideas, and these ideas commingle harmoniously. This reassured me that we both were spiritual ideas of God's creating, which makes us exempt from physical accidents and conditions.
I first hopped, then walked, constantly denying the reality of injury, while I simultaneously accepted spiritual truths as they came to my thought. We finished our walk and went home. I tried not to give the foot any notice, but I couldn't help seeing the swelling. I was still very uncomfortable and felt as though I needed help in prayer, so I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. Over the next few days, the practitioner shared many healing truths about my real being as an idea of God.
