Possibilities for a painter-poet

From the September 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As an artist, writer, and poet, I pray steadfastly for divine Love to open the way for me to express my talents and reach others. One day, in the morning newspaper, there was an invitation to visit the nearby University of California at Santa Cruz, which was showing its rare book collection. I sat in the library while the curators brought me original artists' books from everywhere in the world. What unique creations! Some were made of metal, some of wood, some of handmade fabrics; they were beautiful!

On my way home, I resolved to design my own artist's book. In four months it was ready, and I took it to the same library at Santa Cruz. They accepted it as part of their collection. The chancellor, the president, and the library staff thanked me for my "Painted Poems." I thanked divine Love for opening this door.

Then I studied this instruction in Genesis, which God gave to Abraham: "Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it." Gen. 13:14-15. This exalted statement lifted my vision to see more of the infinitude of good.
