All grazed out?

The metaphor of God as Shepherd heals a broken friendship.

From the December 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A friendship was withering away before my eyes. Someone I loved had become aloof and cold to me, and I was hurt. The most painful part was that I didn't know why this had happened. Over and over, I churned through the recent past, as though constantly replaying an old video. As months went by with no improvement in the relationship, my wounded feelings began turning to resentment and bitterness. I felt trapped and helpless, unable to make a change in the situation.

Still searching for a solution, I found a compelling message in the 23rd Psalm. I began to think more deeply about God as the Shepherd, leading His sheep to good pastures. In a poem based on this imagery, Mary Baker Eddy phrases her prayer to God this way:

I began to think about God as the Shepherd, leading His sheep.
