A dad relies on God to heal his daughter

From the February 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am very grateful for Christian Science.

One night when my younger daughter was a toddler, she had trouble breathing. My wife normally deals with the children when there is a nighttime need, but this night was different. As I got out of bed, I was a little impatient with having been awakened. But when I picked my daughter up, I noticed that she was having a lot of trouble breathing. As I held her in my arms, the annoyance went away. I felt a complete sense of calm and love. I spoke to her of God's love for her and His ability to meet her every need. She settled down right away, and her breathing became easier. She then said she wanted to go back to bed, and she went to sleep quickly.

After putting her to bed, I prayed to understand the spiritual facts that were true about our daughter. Our family has had a great time seeing God's love for everyone—moms, dads, kids, dogs, cats, fish. Spiritual healing has been very dependable in meeting whatever needs we've faced, so I felt confident that my daughter would be safe in God's care, as she always was.
