An effective cure for pain

Prayer brings lasting benefits to mind and body.

From the February 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It's not unusual for those who have never experienced spiritual healing to question its validity, to wonder if turning to God alone for healing is a safe and sane thing to do. Is prayer a reasonable and effective way of curing illness, injury, or pain?

I feel certain it is. Over many years I've experienced healings of both minor and critical illnesses through prayer based on an understanding of God and His unlimited power. Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Christian Science over a century ago, writes in her book Science and Health, "The divine Principle of healing is proved in the personal experience of any sincere seeker of Truth." Science and Health, p. x.

This method of healing was practiced by Christ Jesus. For instance, a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for 12 years was immediately healed when she reached out to Jesus for help. Her faith, he said, had made her whole. See Mark 5:25-34 .
