Testimonies of Healing

Caffeine dependence eliminated

From the February 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I would like to express gratitude for a healing that has been very significant to me because of the sweetness and grace with which it came.

During college, I began to drink coffee. Over time I became very attached to the habit. I mistakenly associated it with comfort, which I have since learned has its source in God alone. At various times I would come across this sentence in Science and Health: "The depraved appetite for alcoholic drinks, tobacco, tea, coffee, opium, is destroyed only by Mind's mastery of the body. This normal control is gained through divine strength and understanding" (p. 406).

We can rely on God to help us out of anything that might keep us from feeling near to Him.
