What does a Christian Science practitioner 'do'?

From the March 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A directory in the back of this magazine lists names of people all over the world who devote their full professional time to Christian healing.

People who have never talked with a Christian Science practitioner sometimes ask what they should say and what the practitioner does. Here, one practitioner describes a call he received from someone contacting a practitioner for the first time.

I received a call from a woman who had just had a routine medical checkup that included a mammogram. She told me that she was very concerned about the doctor's suspicion of a black spot on the X-ray negative. She was afraid that it might be breast cancer, and she wanted to visit with me the next day. I assured her that this could be healed.
