Freed from longstanding pain

From the April 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

FOR MANY YEARS I took medication to help relieve unrelenting and crippling pain. Pills and injections helped temporarily, but the symptoms persisted until finally all drugs lost their effectiveness. As a last resort, the doctors sent me to a large, diagnostic hospital.

The weeks I spent in the facility turned out to be more painproducing than the ailment I was being treated for. I became so weak and ill that I feared I would never return to my family and young children. Invasive surgery was recommended, but I resolved I would rather die. Later, as I left the facility for home, I determined that I would live my life the best I was able. That firm decision proved to be that turning point in my life.

I was able to trust God as the eternal health-giver.
