A painter listens to God

From the June 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Obedience to God has proven to be a real blessing for me. On Easter Monday evening, 1998, I felt chilled and unwell, so I went to bed. But I didn't have a restful night.

I'm a painter, and my assistant and I left early, as usual, to start work on site at seven a.m. I still wasn't feeling well and didn't have much energy, so about half past nine I went and sat in my vehicle and prayed for healing. I went to sleep for about ten minutes, and on waking, I asked God what to do. The answer came as though spoken aloud: "Get back to work."

Although there was no change in my physical condition, I got up to obey. Before I had walked more than three steps, I was completely healed, and worked all day except for a short lunch break.
