Generations of healing

From the June 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the mid-1960s my mother found herself in very poor health and her employment in jeopardy, all while she had two young children to support. She had reached the point that the next time a cousin, who was a Christian Scientist, was visiting our home, she told him she wished she had his faith. With a look of love and compassion I shall never forget, he assured her that of course she could have it. And from his overcoat pocket, he produced a paperback edition of Science and Health with key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and gave it to her.

The difference that book made to our lives was amazing! my mother began attend ing services at a local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and my brother and I were enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. Wonderful healings followed.

When I married, my husband and I began attending a different church. It wasn't until we had children of our own, and problems of recurring illness to face, that we again turned to Christian Science. And what a wonderful time of exploration it was — and still is.
