Questions and Answers about the Library

From the March 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

is the chief executive officer of The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity and executive editor of the Library's magazine. From the beginning stages of the Library's establishment, he has been involved in the Library's development at all levels. Below, he responds to some of the questions Church members and others have been asking.

Could you tell us something about the big picture, the broader aspirations of the Mary Baker Eddy library?

The Library's founding purpose is to further the universal quest for spirituality and the science of being and their effect on health and human progress. It is not "devoted" exclusively to Mary Baker Eddy. Rather, it is an institution dedicated to publishing, or "making public," her writings and, through her writings, the ideas and legacy that she discovered and founded. It is also an institution, like The Christian Science Monitor, whose mission includes a strong commitment to uplift humanity.
