In the varied aspects of her life, Mary Baker Eddy was all about bettering humanity. She was a healer and teacher. A public lecturer. The Discoverer of Christian Science. The Founder of the Church of Christ, Scientist. An author and Publisher. And she was an effective businesswoman.
She ran a business that consisted of a healing ministry, a Church, a publishing venture, and a global communications system. The business began modestly and eventually became a multi-million-dollar enterprise.
Her primary published work, Science and Health with key to the Scriptures, has been in print continuously for over 125 years. Over ten million copies have been sold. The Christian Science Monitor, the newspaper she began in 1908, in part as a response to the yellow journalism of her day, is still widely respected in our day, even as publishing and media conglomerates dominate the landscape.
