Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and I have been friends for a long time. From childhood it has been my spiritual guidebook. I've learned parts of it by heart and can easily locate many loved passages.
For years, my main relationship with this book consisted of studying it alongside the Bible in weekly Lessons on spiritual topics. Occasionally I'd study an individual chapter. Often I'd open it randomly for inspiration, as I did with my Bible. Or I'd research words or concepts specific to a healing I was pursuing.
The few times I'd tried to read Science and Health through, the logic of its overall construction seemed to elude me. Then about seven years ago, I became aware of the intense search for spirituality that had been gaining momentum all around me. Titles covering every aspect of spirituality were flooding bookstore shelves, and I became curious about Mrs. Eddy's dedication of Science and Health to "honest seekers for Truth." Science and Health, p. xii. Was I the kind of seeker that she had in mind?
