For many years I served as principal of a public school. It was a good school, in a nice neighborhood, and the team spirit among the school personnel was excellent.
Not long after I began working there, however, I saw that storage space for the school's gymnastic equipment was very limited, and there was no suitable space for the outdoor sports equipment. So I thought. Why not build additional storage space onto the school?
When I mentioned this idea during a meeting with several other heads of schools, I got only negative reactions. Among other things, they told me that two former principals of our school had tried getting a similar proposal through the municipal department of education, and their petitions had been turned down. They advised me to spend no more time thinking about it, because it would be to no avail.
