Finding safety in God's care

From the November 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One day many years ago, when I was still relatively new in the public practice of Christian Science, I was sitting on a park bench eating my lunch. A man walking hand in hand with his young son stopped to talk with me for a moment. As they were leaving, I asked the little boy where they were going. He answered, "I'm with my father." He was too young to know where they were going and didn't seem to care, because he intuitively knew that he was safe with his father.

A few nights later I received a call from a mother whose child was quite ill. Afraid and in tears, she asked me to pray with her. I reassured her and the child of the immanence and immediacy of God's healing love. Then I prayed all night to know that this child was embraced in God's care. Thinking of these words from Science and Health, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," Science and Health, p. 494. I affirmed that the Love that is God is always present to heal.

You and I are embraced by Love.
