To make gratitude your attitude

From the November 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In physics, scientists look for a unified field theory—how disparate laws are connected and smoothly work together. I have often wondered how religious, political, and cultural perspectives could ever be united—they seem so different. And I think the work that the Center for World Thanksgiving is doing has found a path that unites religions, nations, and all people. It's gratitude.

This Center, located at Thanks-Giving Square in Dallas, Texas, is a resource for the prayer and thanksgiving traditions of the United States that have lasted for over two hundred years. It also gathers and shares information about world traditions, researching gratitude in all religions and cultures and promoting thanksgiving globally.

Is there a religious tradition that doesn't give gratitude for something? Is there a nation or people who have no harvests and nothing to be grateful for? Gratitude is a golden chain that unites humanity. Gratitude is a balm that comforts and heals people.
