December 2002. The taxi driver in Berlin asked me and my colleagues why we were visiting a sports arena dressed in ties and business suits. "There's going to be a large meeting about the importance of spirituality in daily life there next June, and we're helping to organize it," I answered.
"Spirituality? Very important," he replied. Then he continued, "The doctors treat your material body. But you have to be seen as a whole being—with your mind and thoughts." That exchange was another confirmation for me that people are looking for life's answers in a spiritual direction, and that they've begun to admit that openly, without feeling embarrassed.
