Snapped tendon healed

From the August 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One morning as I was making a bed, my right hand became tangled in the sheet. I felt a tiny "snap" in one of my fingers. When I disentangled my hand, I found that the last joint of the middle finger was at an angle to the rest of the finger. I also couldn't straighten it. This scared me, because the same thing had happened to my father some 15 years previously. And his finger had never straightened out.

Nevertheless, I felt confident in relying on prayer for healing, as I have in the past. So I called a Christian Science practitioner immediately and asked for treatment. This was very kindly given. At the end of several days I was no longer afraid, even though the finger was still misshapen. I called the practitioner to thank her for her help and continued praying for myself.

I also made several attempts at improvising a splint, thinking that I could keep the finger from moving while the healing took place. But my homemade splints kept falling to pieces as I went about my work, so I went to a doctor to have the finger put in a properly made splint. Although the doctor was very kind, he said that it would be pointless to use a splint, since the tendon had snapped and an operation would be necessary to correct the problem.
