L'vov does not have a group of Christian Scientists, but it does have a dedicated reader of Science and Health who is single-handedly responsible for bringing a lecture to this city in the Ukraine. Dariya Vladimirovna is a medical doctor who first heard about Christian Science from a Russian Herald shortwave radio program. She has been studying Science and Health for about two years and has experienced several healings. She wanted to sponsor a lecture.
So in April, a lecture-workshop, "Christian Healing—Medicine of the Future," was conducted by lecturer Hildegard Arnesen in the lecture hall of Medical University, and was sponsored and paid for by The Mother Church. Fifty-one people attended—all of them brand new to Science and Health.
"They warmly received the ideas and seemed very eager to apply them to their personal, family, and work-related problems," Ms. Arnesen says. She was especially moved by one woman, who had not left her home for the past two years because of a physical ailment. She was so motivated to come that she rallied to make the trip.
