From the November 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Sometimes it seemed like I was dealing with little more than a stable of quirky, moody authors. As a copywriter for a small publishing company, I guess I got used to their occasional flare-ups and irrational behavior.

But one day, during a book cover design meeting, when an author turned to me and exploded over a perceived mistake, I was left speechless. The text still wasn't right, he said. It needed to be changed. And yet, not only had he seen the copy, but he'd already made extensive edits. As I searched for the right words, he threw up his hands and left the meeting.

It was all I could do not to plunge into finding the paper trail that would prove my innocence. But beneath the storm of frustration, there was a stronger, calmer current pulling me in a different direction. It said: Pray.
