STIRRING RADIO AND TV INTO THE CAMPUS CSO MIX

From the January 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

According to Etim Uko at Rivers State University of Science & Technology in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, "There are over 100 Christian denominations represented on our campus. So to provide information about Christian Science, we have sponsored a lecture every year since 1998. The CSO also has donated several copies of Science and Health to the university's main library and to faculty libraries. And we distribute the Christian Science Sentinel and the Journal in the cafeteria, the library, and at telephone and Internet browsing outlets.

"In May 2004," Uko continues, "we partnered with Rivers State University's Students Union Government (SUG), to sponsor a Christian Science lecture, which concluded the SUG's annual cultural week, We were delighted that 65 copies of Science and Health were distributed during that lecture.

Also, as part of the cultural week's events, our speaker, Kiatezua Luyaluka, from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, was interviewed on the radio for 30 minutes. The response was so positive that the station repeated the broadcast. Mr. Luyaluka also was interviewed for half-hour NTA (Nigeria Television Authority). Since we've begun these campus activities, we've become aware of an increasing interest among students for an on-campus Reading Room for easy access to Christian Science publications.
