WALKING THE PATH

A CONVERSATION WITH HANS-JOACHIM TRAPP

From the January 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The present power of a divine influence in life is very real to Christian Science practitioner and teacher , of Berlin, Germany–it has shaped the contours of his life, giving him the capacity to help others find spiritual solutions to their problems.

Mr. Trapp lost his father as a young boy. This caused emotional and economic hardship for his family. Growing up, he constantly wished he had a father to love and guide him. During this time a neighbor offered the family a book she thought could help: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Eagerly, Trapp's mother and sister began to use the ideas from the book. As a result, several serious diseases in the family were healed.

Gradually, Trapp began his own spiritual journey. Studying Science and Health along with the Bible, it became natural for him to pray about problems and lean on his spiritual perspective to find clear solutions. He studied the book to gain a deeper understanding of spiritual values and how they play out in life. "How do my actions impact the lives of others and the future?" he asked himself often. This approach was very much a part of his successful career in graphic design and public relations. Living in Berlin, Germany, he counseled a broad base of clients such as the German government, the media, and international companies.
