New appointments

From the November 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

AS PART OF OUR CONTINUING OVERSIGHT of The Christian Science Publishing Society, two members of The Christian Science Board of Directors will be exchanging assignments. Walter D. Jones, C.S.B., has accepted appointment as a member of The Board of Trustees of the Publishing Society. M. Victor Westberg, C.S.B., will assume responsibility for oversight of financial matters, human resources, the Technology Services Group (TSG), and site services for The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and will join Walter Jones and Mary Trammell as Directors who also serve as Trustees of The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity.

Mr. Jones brings a strong background in communications to his assignment. A graduate of Northwestern University's School of Communications, he pursued a ten-year career in television news—including reporting, producing, and anchoring with ABC and NBC affiliates in Iowa. Mr. Jones has worked for the Publishing Society as an interviewer, producer, and host for the broadcast edition of The Herald of Christian Science, and as a reporter for Monitor Radio.

In addition to serving as Treasurer of The Mother Church, he was the Christian Science Committee on Publication for the State of Iowa, a post that involved establishing and maintaining contacts with the print and broadcast news media. During this assignment, he opened dialogues with the fields of medicine and theology and carried out legislative work in Iowa and at the federal level in Washington, DC.
